No, Royal Mail and Parcelforce do not need a signature.
They will need a proof of delivery such as a photograph showing the parcel accepted at the designated delivery address, with a neighbour or safe place (if requested).
Some smaller items that can be sent by Royal Mail can be small enough to fit through a letterbox. Royal Mail at their discretion will normally put these through your letterbox if it is able to fit.
